During the course of the day, Hyde-DC Elementary School students learn basic and advanced skills through a variety of instructional approaches. Because children learn in different ways and at various rates, Hyde-DC provides instruction that taps into every intelligence or mode of learning. In other words, we use a multi-sensory approach to learning.

Throughout the day, students receive direct instruction coupled with cooperative learning activities to allow them to help and learn from one another, with accommodations and modifications. We provide one-to-one assistance and support for our special needs students within the general education setting. The integration of technology within each classroom allows students to take charge of their own learning and supports inquiry-based learning.

In addition to academics, our Elementary School students are given opportunities to develop, improve, and enhance other talents and interests during instruction in physical education and nutrition, music, art, soccer and other non-academic areas. Our school-wide instructional program is enhanced with the use of technology, media resources, tutorial sessions, field studies and discovery groups.
