Heavy snow or other inclement weather can impact when Hyde opens or closes for the day.  In the event that Hyde Leadership Public Charter School decides to open late, close early or make any other changes to its regular schedule, notification will be provided to the following broadcast media:  NBC-TV Ch. 4, FOX-TV Ch. 5, ABC-TV Ch. 7/News Ch. 8, WUSA-TV Ch. 9 and radio station WTOP (103.5 FM and 820 AM).  

Important:  In addition to the school delay or closing announcement, there will be a code listed which serves as specific instructions for the faculty and staff of the school.  Please refer to the following codes in the event of school closing or delays.

Code Red: School and Administrative offices closed.  Only essential personnel (Director of Facilities, Building Engineer and selected building and grounds staff) report to work.

Code Yellow: School is closed to students, faculty and hourly food service staff.  Administrative offices are open.  All support staff and administrative support staff report to work on time.

Code Green: School opens two hours late (students & teachers).  All other staff report to work on time.

Code Orange: School and administrative offices open two hours late.

Code Blue:   Emergency status, everyone remains in school until official notice is received from the Head of School.

The radio station and telephone stations will be notified in a timely fashion to alert you to Hyde’s status.
