The Hyde classroom is a very important arena for character development. Students are constantly challenged to consider who they are as learners, what their strengths and weaknesses are as learners, and how they learn best. Students are asked to observe how certain positive and negative attitudes influence their learning attitudes and respond to what they find out about themselves. The belief is that if students are to learn and digest all the information they receive from their teachers through direct instruction or even cooperative learning, they must be able to process the information and make it real and relevant to their own lives.
